How an anesthesiologist's simple idea became a global tool for choking rescue training.

In 2008, Dr. Timothy Adams, a California anesthesiologist, volunteered to teach First Aid to Boy Scouts. He noticed a problem: traditional manikins couldn't provide realistic feedback for abdominal thrust training. Students could go through the motions but never truly knew if they were doing it correctly.
Determined to improve training, he built something better. Using discarded operating room supplies, he created early prototypes of a wearable device that could simulate a real choking emergency. Each prototype gave visual confirmation when abdominal thrusts were performed correctly, allowing learners to practice with confidence.
The first prototype changed how those students learned. And a company was born.

Dr. Timothy Adams invents the first wearable Anti Choking Trainer. Early prototypes are tested with Boy Scouts, demonstrating real-time abdominal thrust feedback.

The Anti Choking Trainer is showcased at the Emergency Cardiovascular Care Update (ECCU) Conference in Las Vegas, introducing the device to medical training professionals.

Act+Fast LLC receives national television exposure during a live demonstration using the Anti Choking Trainer on Good Morning America.

International distribution begins as training programs across Europe and Asia start adopting the Act+Fast trainer.

The trainer is featured on more national talk shows, including The Dr. Oz Show and The Doctors, expanding public awareness of choking rescue training.

Training programs expand across new sectors, including fire departments, nursing homes, classrooms, and restaurants, seeking hands-on choking rescue education.

Katie Couric demonstrates the trainer on her daytime program, showing how simulation-based practice builds real emergency confidence.

Recognizing the need for age-appropriate training, the Act+Fast Children's Trainer is officially introduced, designed specifically for students ages 5–11.

Act+Fast trainers are distributed through 150+ global partners and used in training programs across 70+ countries — with the same commitment to quality and realism as day one.
Unlike static manikins, the Act+Fast Trainer is wearable and provides immediate, visible confirmation when a technique is performed correctly.
When abdominal thrusts are performed correctly, the foam plug ejects, giving instant, unambiguous confirmation that builds true muscle memory.
Students practice on each other, not a static dummy. The wearable design mirrors an actual choking emergency, building the reflex to act when it counts.
The patented air bladder and foam plug system delivers consistent, realistic simulation. Built for repeated professional use with durable, high-quality materials.
The original device, trusted by the Red Cross, US Army, Disney, fire departments, and hospitals worldwide. Proven performance that no imitation has replicated.
Lightweight and adjustable. Used in CPR classes, fire stations, restaurants, schools, hospitals, corporate training, and anywhere choking rescue matters.
Adult trainers for ages 12+, and a dedicated Children's Trainer sized for students ages 5–11. Protocol-specific options including back slap pad variants.
Since Act+Fast introduced the world's first anti-choking trainer, a wave of lower-cost copies have flooded the market, copying our design without the same quality, materials, or safety testing.
Three trainers. One mission: hands-on, realistic choking rescue training for every age group and every protocol.

Standard abdominal thrust trainer for adults and teens. The back slap pad is available as a separate accessory for protocols that include back blows.

Our all-in-one adult trainer with the back slap pad built in, ideal for protocols that require back blows as part of the choking response sequence.

Purpose-built for pediatric training. Smaller sizing designed for students ages 5–11, with back slap pad included for age-appropriate protocols.
Choking is one of the leading causes of unintentional injury and death, especially in young children. In a real emergency, hesitation costs lives. Simulation-based training removes that hesitation.
Repeated physical practice under realistic conditions creates automatic responses. They're the kind that fire when panic sets in.
The foam plug ejects only when technique is correct. No guesswork. No assumption. Students know they did it right.
Studies consistently show simulation-based training improves both skill retention and emergency response performance, so when the moment comes, training feels automatic.

From classrooms to fire stations to corporate offices, give your team the hands-on practice they need to respond instantly in a choking emergency.
